Moisturise, Nourish, & Hydrate Your Hair

January 20, 2022

Hair Spritz | Curly Hair Products & Locs | AfroShe

Why would you need to moisturise, nourish, and hydrate your hair?

Well, before we dive into that question, let’s break it down and look at it from different angles.

What is Hair?

Hair is a protein filament which grows from follicles found in the dermis. Once the hair grows through the skin’s surface, the strand of hair is considered as ‘dead’ hair. This explains why we are not in pain when we cut our hair or perform various forms of treatments, but we do feel pain when a strand of hair is pulled out of the dermis.

What is hydration?

Hydration is the process of replenishing the water in the body. What role does hydration play in hair care? Just as all living things need water, so does our hair. Hydration can come from the water or other fluids that we drink, the food we eat, water absorption from our body, washing our hair and of course from the hair products we use. Just as we hydrate, so we also dehydrate. Dehydration occurs through exercise, bladder and bowel eliminations and through sweating. So, what’s the application in hair care, you ask. Well, I’m super excited to share with you the benefits of hydration for hair care.

The importance of hydration for hair care.

Hydration in hair care can be achieved through moisturising which nourishes the hair strands. No matter your hair type, it still needs to be moisturised. The absorption rate for different hair types varies due to the texture, type, and porosity. Hair porosity is the absorption and retaining power of the hair strands. Hair porosity ranges from low, medium to high. Low porosity is where the hair cuticles are tighter. This makes the hair less able to absorb moisture and harder to lose moisture. High porosity is the opposite, where the hair cuticles are open and easily absorb and lose moisture. Because it is quite common for a head of hair to have more than one hair porosity, best practice is to not make hair porosity the determining factor when selecting your hair products. It is far more helpful to be guided by the properties of the product. Because AfroShe products have a balanced formulation they are versatile and perfectly able to address the various needs of wavy, curly, kinky coily and locs hair. Moisturising can be easily achieved using a combination of the following methods.

Hair Porosity | Natural & Organic Hair Care | AfroShe

Method 1: Water/ Liquid - Use water/ liquid and or water-based products

Method 2: Oils/ Oil-Water based products. Suggested AfroShe products include HAIR SPRITZ, HAIR & SCALP OIL & HAIR MILK.

Method 3: Moisture Sealants (styling products) – Use creams, butters, stylers or gels. Suggested AfroShe products include Shea Butter Curl Styler, Creamy Hair Butter, Hair Butter, Curl It Moisturising Hair Gel (light hold or medium/strong hold).

Depending on the results you are after, AfroShe HAIR SPRITZ can be used as a stand-alone product or with all three methods.

What is Hair Spritz?

The great secret is to be able to create a balanced environment for our hair with careful use of hair care products. It was with this balance in mind that I formulated AfroShe HAIR SPRITZ. I am a primary school educator and curly mum. I am from a diverse cultural background and I have curly kids. So, when I was looking for hair care products there were several must-haves in what I was looking for. I wanted them to be family-friendly, from newborn babies through to adults, and they needed to be versatile for the different needs of wavy, curly, kinky coily/ afro and locs. These were all a must for me and my family as we all had different hair types.

At AfroShe® we believe that your natural hair and skin are beautifully made and perfect in every way and deserve the best nature has to offer in love and care. That’s why all our products are handmade, formulated with natural & certified organic ingredients, delivering instant and long-lasting results that you can see and feel. We are very proud of the high quality of all the ingredients used in our products.

AfroShe® products are vegan-friendly and cruelty free. Every ingredient has been chosen for its unique properties. Our high concentration formulas are very rich, and you will find that a little goes along way. Our products are also free of parabens, silicones and sulfates.

Aren’t all hair spritz the same?

Let me share with you these amazing benefits of AfroShe® HAIR SPRITZ. What makes it so unique that the same product can be used for the whole spectrum of wavy, curly, kinky coily and locs hair?

Most importantly, our oil-water based blend is carefully balanced with powerful and organic hero ingredients (learn more) like….

Here are a few AfroShe HAIR SPRITZ reviews

  • Amy T: Must have in my routine – I have been using the hair spritz for a few years now and it has become a must have in my hair routine. It does wonders for my curls defining them and making them last so much longer. Just a little bit of the product goes a long way. My favourite product from AfroShe

  •  Adrienne: Hair Spritz and Curl It Gel Curl Makers - I received a sample of the Curl It Gel, with my first order of the Hair Spritz and I've been using them together. I'm still new to the Curly Girl method, but I like both products and they're definitely contributing to the improvement of the condition of my hair. Even my hairdresser commented how much better my hair was looking and feeling. The gel is nice and light and is the first gel I've used which doesn't make my hair feel sticky. I'm still learning how best to use the Hair Spritz, but it seems to be adding much needed moisture to my hair. Putting in a second order : )

  • Soniaa: Liquid Gold for Shiny Hair! - Current favorite hair product! I love using this hair spritz for hair refreshes and scrunching out gel casts during wash days. The shine I get is amazing! Feels very light weight and doesn’t leave a greasy feel after spraying onto my curls.

With all this awesome information, It is my hope that you’ve been inspired to let your curly, wavy, kinky coily/ afro & locs hair experience the ultimate natural hair care love with AfroShe HAIR SPRITZ.
